Nagaur Police Intensifies Crackdown with Four More Arrests in Major Explosives Case
In a significant development in the ongoing investigation into a massive explosives seizure, the Nagaur police have apprehended four additional suspects. This action follows the initial arrest made on January 24, when authorities confiscated nearly 10,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate along with other dangerous materials in the district.

According to Nagaur Superintendent of Police Mridul Kachhawa, the first arrest involved Suleman Khan, aged 58, on January 24. During this operation, police recovered a substantial quantity of ammonium nitrate, detonators, fuse wires, and various other explosive components. Khan has a history of involvement in cases related to illegal explosives and mining activities, as revealed by preliminary investigations.
Following this, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to delve deeper into the case. The SIT's efforts led to the arrests of four more individuals: Bharat Kumar, Banshi Lal, Dev Raj, and Mahendra Pal Singh. These suspects have allegedly confessed to sourcing explosive materials from licensed outlets, known as magazines, and supplying them to smaller, unregulated units. This illicit supply chain is believed to have facilitated illegal mining operations across the region.
Investigation Uncovers Widespread Network
Officials stated that the accused were involved in moving large quantities of ammonium nitrate and other components, such as wires, across multiple locations. A senior police official highlighted that the discovery of nearly 10,000 kg of ammonium nitrate at Khan's hideout indicates he may have procured it to fulfill a substantial order. The SIT is currently conducting searches in other districts to uncover further details and identify additional suppliers and buyers in this illegal network.
In a notable escalation, central agencies including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) have also intervened. They have visited the district to question the suspects, underscoring the seriousness of the case and its potential implications for national security.
