A residential property in Nagpur became the target of a significant burglary, resulting in the loss of valuables worth nearly five lakh rupees. The incident occurred in the Naveen Nagar locality of Pardi while the homeowner and his family were away visiting relatives.

Timeline and Method of the Crime

The complainant, 43-year-old Sheikh Afsar Sheikh Afzal, a resident of Bharatiya Lok Kalyan Society, had securely locked his house before leaving for his in-laws' place with his family. The unknown thief struck sometime between the evening of January 2 and January 3.

Investigations reveal that the burglar forcibly broke open the main door lock to gain entry. Once inside, the intruder proceeded directly to the bedroom. There, an iron cupboard was ransacked, and its contents were stolen.

Stolen Valuables and Police Action

The total value of the stolen items amounts to a substantial ₹4.8 lakh. The loot included ₹1.50 lakh in hard cash and various gold ornaments valued at ₹3.33 lakh.

Upon discovering the theft, Sheikh Afzal approached the Pardi police station to file a formal complaint. The police have taken swift action by registering a case against the unknown accused.

The charges have been framed under specific sections of the new criminal code, namely Sections 305(A), 331(3), and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An active investigation is now underway to identify and apprehend the culprit.
