Nagpur Mob Demands Justice After Youth's Stabbing Death Outside Police Station

Angry relatives and local residents gathered outside the Jaripatka police station in Nagpur on Friday afternoon, carrying the body of 21-year-old Chetan Sahare. The young man had succumbed to stab injuries at Mayo Hospital late on Thursday night. The crowd demanded the immediate arrest of all individuals involved in the fatal attack.

Assurances from Police Calm the Protest

The mob dispersed only after receiving firm assurances from police officials regarding strong and decisive action in the case. Officers engaged in lengthy discussions with the protesters, promising to file stringent charges and prepare a robust charge sheet designed to withstand legal challenges in court.

Details of the Fatal Altercation

The violent incident occurred on February 1 near Chetan Sahare's mother's tea kiosk, located in the Jaripatka main market area close to a large shopping mall. According to sources, the trouble began when two men, identified as Akash Temburne and Gaurav Ambade, allegedly confronted Chetan. The argument reportedly started because Chetan was selling cigarettes to two women.

The situation escalated when the two men allegedly began pushing Chetan around. During the ensuing physical altercation, one of the individuals allegedly stabbed Chetan in the stomach, inflicting the fatal wound.

Police Action and Ongoing Investigation

Police acted swiftly following the incident, arresting the two primary suspects, Akash Temburne and Gaurav Ambade, within hours. However, the protesting crowd expressed a strong belief that additional individuals were involved in the attack and remain at large.

A senior police officer from the Jaripatka police station confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. "The mob, however, believed more people were involved in the attack and are on the run. We are probing the case," the officer stated.

Aftermath and Final Rites

Following the assurances from police, the crowd eventually calmed. They carefully lifted Chetan Sahare's body on a stretcher and transported it to Nari Ghat, where his last rites were performed. The incident has highlighted community tensions and demands for swift justice in the wake of violent crime.
