Nagpur Murder Disguised as Accidental Death Uncovered

The Local Crime Branch of Nagpur Rural has successfully uncovered a cold-blooded murder that was initially disguised as an accidental death. The victim, Yogesh Sambhare, a 36-year-old resident of Kalmeshwar, went missing on May 11. His body was discovered on May 17 in a well near a farm in Nimboli Upravahi. Initially, an accidental death case was registered under Section 194 of the BNS at the Kalmeshwar police station.

Parallel Investigation Reveals Truth

Acting under the supervision of SP Harssh A Poddar and Addl SP Anil Mhaske, a special team from the Local Crime Branch conducted a parallel probe. Through meticulous interrogation of relatives, analysis of technical evidence, and inputs from secret informants, the team exposed the murder plot. The accused, Dhanraj Modarkar, aged 37, also a resident of Nimboli, was arrested.

Confession and Motive

During questioning, Modarkar confessed to killing Sambhare. He stated that he learned the deceased was allegedly harassing and threatening his wife. On May 11, Modarkar struck Sambhare on the head with an axe in a field at Nimboli. To destroy evidence, he dumped the body in a well. A murder case has now been registered under various sections of the BNS, and the accused remains in police custody.
