Nagpur Police Launches Major Anti-Terror Operation Targeting Highway Establishments
In a meticulously planned overnight operation, the Nagpur police conducted simultaneous raids on 28 establishments along crucial highway corridors. The extensive anti-sabotage drive targeted 17 hotels and 11 lodges situated on routes connecting Nagpur to other major cities, aiming to detect and prevent terror activities and other illegal operations.
Clinical Operation Led by Senior Inspector Mukund Kawade
Senior Inspector Mukund Kawade, who spearheaded the clinical operation, confirmed its significant success. The police contingent, operating across east and south Nagpur during the intervening night of April 21 and 22, verified an impressive 72 externed criminals and history-sheeters. The operation featured multiple strike squads comprising a substantial force of 30 officers, 100 personnel, and one riot-control commando platoon. These teams specifically targeted known criminal hubs, effectively snuffing out potential security threats and sabotage risks. Police focused intensively on monitoring suspected movements along highways leading to the Samruddhi Expressway and scrutinizing anti-national activities in lodges and hotels.
Comprehensive Anti-Sabotage Checks at Strategic Locations
Teams conducted thorough anti-sabotage checks at numerous strategic points, including highways, dhabas, and other vulnerable locations. The operation's scope extended beyond terror detection to include a crackdown on the illegal liquor trade and other unlawful practices. Strict legal action was initiated against establishments involved in the sale of illegal liquor under the stringent Maharashtra Prohibition Act.

- 20 cases registered under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act
- 2 cases filed under the anti-narcotics Act
- 64 actions taken against obscene behavior in public places
