Nagpur Police Launch Extensive Searches Following Bomb Threat Emails at Key Institutions

Police in Nagpur carried out comprehensive security operations on Wednesday, conducting thorough searches at the district court in Civil Lines and the passport office in Mankapur. This urgent response was triggered after both government institutions received alarming bomb threat emails, prompting immediate action from law enforcement agencies.

Detailed Inspections by Bomb Detection Squad Yield No Explosives

The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) executed meticulous inspections at both locations following the threatening communications. Despite extensive efforts spanning several hours, authorities confirmed that no explosive devices, suspicious objects, or hazardous materials were discovered during the operations. The searches were conducted as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety and institutional security.

Threatening Email Details and Police Response

According to official statements, an email was sent to the official email addresses of both the district court and passport office from an account identified as "Kanimozhi / The Vidya@hotmail.com." The disturbing message claimed that a cyanide squad had infiltrated the district court premises and warned of an imminent bomb blast that would destroy the court building.

Upon receiving the alert at the district court, Senior Police Inspector Amol Deshmukh of Sadar police station immediately mobilized resources. He arrived at the scene accompanied by specialized BDDS personnel who conducted an exhaustive search of the entire court premises. This operation lasted nearly three hours, during which officers meticulously examined all areas but found no bomb-like objects or suspicious individuals.

Simultaneous Threat at Passport Office

Around the same time, the passport office in Mankapur received a similar bomb threat email. Senior Police Inspector Harish Kalsekar of Mankapur police station coordinated with the BDDS team to execute a comprehensive two-hour search of the passport office facilities. This parallel operation also concluded without discovering any suspicious items or security breaches.

Police Register Case Against Unidentified Sender

Following the completion of security operations at both locations, Sadar police formally registered a case against the unidentified sender of the threatening emails. Investigators are working to trace the origin of the communications and identify those responsible for creating the security scare that disrupted normal operations at these important government institutions.

Pattern of Similar Threats in Nagpur

This incident represents the latest in a series of security threats targeting judicial and government facilities in Nagpur. In December 2025, an email threatening to blow up the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court was sent to the registrar's office from an email ID named "Madras Tiger." Earlier, in March of the same year, an individual identified as Prakash made a similar bomb threat via telephone to the police control room, specifically warning of an explosion at the High Court's Nagpur bench.

These repeated incidents have prompted heightened security awareness and response protocols among Nagpur's law enforcement agencies. Police officials emphasize that all such threats are taken with utmost seriousness, regardless of their eventual verification status, to ensure the safety of public institutions and citizens.
