Nagpur Police, UP ATS Arrest Changur Baba's Aide in Raid

Nagpur Police, along with the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad and Nagpur ATS, conducted a coordinated early morning operation in Ashinagar, north Nagpur, on Saturday. The teams moved swiftly through the narrow lanes of the area to apprehend their target.

Key Arrest Made in Pre-Dawn Operation

At approximately 5 am, the joint forces arrested 40-year-old Idhu Islam. Islam served as a crucial helper and money manager for the self-styled preacher known as Changur Baba. Police sources confirmed the arrest, noting that Pachpaoli police and other city police units also participated in the operation.

Longstanding Fugitive Captured

Idhu Islam had an active arrest warrant against him. Uttar Pradesh police had been searching for Islam for over two years. Despite their efforts, he consistently evaded capture until this operation.

Changur Baba's Background and Activities

Changur Baba previously established deep roots in Nagpur's open grounds many years ago. He later shifted his primary activities to Uttar Pradesh. Authorities allege that Changur Baba is involved in large-scale and planned religious conversions.

The arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing investigations into these activities. The joint operation demonstrates effective inter-state coordination between Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh police forces.
