Namakkal: Elderly Woman Found Murdered in Suspected Robbery Case
In a shocking incident, a 90-year-old woman living alone was discovered murdered at her residence near Tiruchengode in Namakkal district on Tuesday morning. Police have confirmed that three sovereigns of gold ornaments, which the victim, identified as Rathinam from Kali Velampalayam, was wearing, are missing. This has led authorities to suspect that the murder was motivated by theft of her valuables.
Discovery of the Crime
The murder came to light when Sasikumar, a milk delivery person who regularly served Rathinam, found her house locked from the outside. Concerned, he inquired with neighbors, but they had no information about her whereabouts. Upon noticing bloodstains on the door, the neighbors immediately alerted Rathinam's grandson, P Dhanasekaran, a 37-year-old weaving mill owner from Thokkavadi.
Dhanasekaran rushed to the scene, entered the house, and tragically found Rathinam's body. He promptly informed the Tiruchengode rural police, who arrived swiftly to initiate an investigation.
Police and Forensic Response
District Superintendent of Police S Vimala, along with other senior officers, visited the crime spot to oversee the inquiry. Forensic science experts were deployed to collect crucial evidence, including fingerprint samples from the premises. In a bid to trace the perpetrators, a sniffer dog named Seema was brought in from Namakkal.
The dog conducted a thorough search near the house, ran approximately one kilometer, and then stopped, providing potential leads for the investigation. A formal case has been registered, and further investigations are actively underway to apprehend the culprits and uncover the full details of this heinous crime.
This incident has raised concerns about the safety of elderly individuals living alone in rural areas, highlighting the need for enhanced security measures and community vigilance.
