Nashik Anti-Narcotics Task Force Seizes Mephedrone Worth Over Rs 2 Lakh in Adgaon Raid
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) conducted a targeted raid in Nashik, leading to the arrest of a worker and the recovery of a substantial quantity of mephedrone. The operation underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat narcotics-related crimes in the region.
Details of the Raid and Arrest
On Monday evening, around 7pm, ANTF teams executed a raid at a residence in Bidi Kamagar Nagar, Adgaon, acting on specific intelligence regarding the sale of mephedrone (MD) from the premises. The operation resulted in the seizure of 69 grams of mephedrone, with an estimated street value exceeding Rs 2 lakh. The arrested individual has been identified as Abdul Razak Abdul Gani Shaikh, a local worker. According to police statements, Shaikh was allegedly selling the drugs directly from his home, while his son, whose current whereabouts remain unknown, handled external sales. This father-son duo is suspected to have been involved in the illegal trade for an unspecified period, prompting a deeper investigation into their activities.
Legal Actions and Ongoing Investigation
Following the raid, the Adgaon police registered a case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, highlighting the seriousness of the offense. Authorities are now intensifying their efforts to track down Shaikh's son, who is believed to be a key player in the distribution network. Additionally, the investigation is focused on identifying the source of the drugs and determining the extent of the illicit operations. ANTF officials emphasized that such raids are part of a broader strategy to dismantle drug rackets across the Nashik Range, which covers five districts.
