Nashik deploys 3000+ police for New Year's Eve vigil

Nashik city is gearing up for a heavily secured New Year's Eve celebration, with law enforcement deploying a massive force to maintain order. A combined strength of over 2,000 police personnel and 1,000 home guards will be stationed across the city from Wednesday evening until early Thursday morning.

Massive Security Deployment for Festive Night

The extensive security arrangement, termed 'bandobast', has been meticulously planned under the guidance of Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik. The primary objective is to prevent any disturbance to the city's law and order as thousands of revellers are expected to flood the streets, hotels, restaurants, and party venues.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Kirankumar Chavan confirmed the deployment details, stating that personnel would be positioned in various parts of the city. The police are particularly vigilant against individuals consuming alcohol in public spaces and those attempting to drive under the influence.

Strict Crackdown on Drunk Driving and Violations

In a significant move to curb road accidents, police teams equipped with breathalysers will be conducting checks on suspicious motorists throughout the night. The traffic police have already been proactive in this regard.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Advita Shinde revealed that actions against drunk drivers commenced on December 16. Over 50 drivers have been penalized in the last two weeks alone. The vigilance is set to be intensified on New Year's Eve, with special attention on roads leading out of the city.

Ensuring Peaceful Celebrations

Anticipating large gatherings, private parties, and the use of firecrackers and loudspeakers, the police aim to ensure all celebrations proceed without any untoward incidents. Every police station will establish fixed points within their jurisdictions to monitor activities closely.

The police force is prepared to handle not just routine celebrations but also potential mischief by trouble-makers aiming to disrupt the festive spirit. The overarching goal remains clear: to allow citizens to welcome the New Year joyfully while upholding strict safety and legal standards across Nashik.
