Nashik Police Intensify Investigation into IT Company Sexual Harassment Cases

In a significant development in Nashik, six men previously arrested in connection with multiple cases of sexual harassment at a local IT company are expected to face additional charges on Monday. The Nashik police confirmed on Saturday that these individuals, currently in judicial custody, will be transferred to other registered cases for further interrogation.

Expanding Investigation and Additional Arrests

The police have established a special investigation team (SIT) headed by ACP (crime) Sandeep Mitke, under the direction of police commissioner Sandeep Karnik. This team has made substantial progress, arresting a total of seven individuals across nine registered cases. Among those arrested is a woman HR officer from the IT company, who was taken into custody on Friday and remains in police custody until April 13.

While the HR officer's arrest marks a recent development, the six male suspects have been in judicial custody. These individuals are implicated in multiple cases among the nine filed with police authorities. So far, arrests have been made in three cases, with the SIT preparing to take custody of suspects in the remaining investigations.

Search for Missing Co-Accused

ACP Mitke revealed that authorities are actively working to locate another woman employee who has been missing since the first complaint was registered on March 25. This individual is named as a co-accused in the initial case involving sexual assault and hurting religious sentiments.

The SIT is employing technical analysis and intelligence gathering to trace her whereabouts. Mitke expressed confidence that her arrest is imminent, stating it is only a matter of time before she is apprehended.

Comprehensive SIT Structure

The special investigation team comprises eleven officers dedicated to unraveling the complex web of cases. The team includes:

  • ACP Sandeep Mitke as the lead investigator
  • Ten police inspectors
  • Assistant inspectors
  • Sub-inspectors
  • Constables

This multidisciplinary approach ensures thorough examination of all nine cases registered with the Nashik police. The investigation continues to develop as authorities work to bring all involved parties to justice and address the serious allegations of workplace harassment at the IT company.
