Nashik BMW Hit-and-Run Case: Minor Driver Detained After Allegedly Targeting Teens
A shocking incident of road rage and alleged premeditated attack has unfolded in Nashik, where a 16-year-old boy driving a BMW car has been accused of deliberately hitting a scooter from behind, causing serious injuries to two 14-year-old riders. The incident occurred around 5:30 PM on Saturday in the Gangapur Road area of Nashik city, according to police reports.
Violent Collision and Immediate Aftermath
Police officials stated that the BMW, driven by the underage teenager, struck the two-wheeler with significant force from the rear. The impact was so severe that the scooter then collided with a parked car by the roadside, amplifying the injuries sustained by both victims. The two 14-year-old boys, both students, suffered multiple injuries in the violent crash.
The complainant, a Standard IX student residing in Sawarkar Nagar along Gangapur Road, sustained a fractured nose along with injuries to his face, hands, and legs. His friend, who was riding pillion, suffered injuries to both legs. Both victims were immediately taken to a private hospital by the complainant's maternal uncle after the incident was reported to family members.
Police Action and Legal Proceedings
On the complaint filed by one of the victims, Nashik police have registered a comprehensive case against the minor BMW driver. The charges include serious sections under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicle Act.
The registered sections include:
- Section 109 (attempt to murder)
- Section 281 (reckless driving)
- Section 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others)
Assistant Inspector Nikhil Pawar provided details of the investigation, stating, "Although the 16-year-old hit the two other boys on the scooter and fled the scene, he was soon traced and detained as the complainant gave the police all his details, including the make of the car and its registration number."
The police confirmed that the minor was alone in the car at the time of the incident and has admitted to the same during questioning. On January 26, the detained underage driver was produced before a juvenile court, which subsequently sent him to a remand home. Police sources have also revealed that the parents of the accused are government servants.
Background of the Conflict
Investigations have uncovered that this violent incident allegedly stems from a dispute that occurred approximately seven months ago. According to the complainant's statement in the FIR, the conflict began when he and his friend were having coffee in the College Road area.
The complainant recounted: "About seven months ago, when I and my other friend from Kamgaar Nagar, Satpur, were having coffee in the College Road area, the accused, sitting across our table, kept staring at us. This led to an argument between us."
Although bystanders intervened and stopped the quarrel at that time, the 16-year-old accused reportedly threatened the complainant, saying he would not spare him. This threat appears to have culminated in Saturday's violent incident.
Sequence of Events on Saturday
The complainant, who frequently visits College Road for tuition classes and whose mother runs a boutique, described the events leading to the collision. He and his friend were returning from their class on College Road, riding a moped near Prasad Mangal Karyalay along Gangapur Road.
According to the FIR: "I saw the accused 16-year-old in an orange BMW through the open front window of the car. Though I ignored the accused, I saw the 16-year-old coming behind us and honking continuously. While I pulled towards the left slowly in a bid to let the accused drive past, the latter allegedly hit my two-wheeler from behind and fled the spot."
After the hit-and-run, the complainant immediately called his mother to narrate the incident, triggering the emergency response that led to their hospitalization and subsequent police complaint.
This case highlights growing concerns about juvenile delinquency, road safety violations by underage drivers, and the escalation of minor disputes into violent confrontations. The Nashik police continue their investigation into what appears to be a targeted attack rather than a mere traffic accident.
