Nashik Tragedy: Two Teen Girls Drown After Being Pushed into Well by Boys
In a deeply disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, two 15-year-old girls tragically drowned after being allegedly pushed into a well by two 17-year-old boys in a village under Bhusawal taluka of Jalgaon district. According to senior police officers, the tragedy stemmed from a one-sided romantic interest. A 17-year-old boy, who undertakes temporary jobs, had developed feelings for a 15-year-old Class IX student from the same village. The girl, feeling uncomfortable, informed her parents about the boy's advances. Consequently, her parents approached the boy's family a few months ago to address the issue.
Despite this intervention, the boy reportedly resumed following the girl. He persistently told her that he merely wanted to speak with her once. On the fateful Tuesday, the girl left her home around 6:30 AM as usual to attend her coaching class. However, she called the boy from another girl's mobile phone, setting the stage for the tragic sequence of events.
The Fatal Morning
Around 7 AM, the boy arrived on a bike and took both girls to a remote area of the village. Another 17-year-old friend of the boy was already present at the location. Soon after, a heated quarrel erupted between the boys and the girls. In a horrifying turn, the two boys allegedly pushed the girls into a nearby well and fled the scene.
Meanwhile, the coaching class teacher noticed the girls' absence and promptly contacted their parents. Alarmed, the parents began a frantic search. After reviewing CCTV camera footage from the village, locals spotted the first boy taking the two girls on his bike towards the well area.
Police Investigation and Arrests
The police acted swiftly, apprehending the first boy from his workplace. Additional Superintendent of Police of Jalgaon, Ashok Nakhate, stated that the boy confessed to the crime during interrogation. He revealed that the boys pushed the second girl into the well as well, fearing she might return home and expose their actions.
The second boy was also detained by the authorities. The girls' bodies were recovered from the well at approximately 1 PM, marking a somber end to the search.
