Nashik Teenager in BMW Causes Serious Accident, Injures Two Minors
A shocking incident unfolded on the busy streets of Nashik when a 16-year-old boy, behind the wheel of a BMW car, rammed into a scooter from the rear, leaving two 14-year-old riders with severe injuries. The police have confirmed that the accident occurred around 5:30 PM on Saturday in the Gangapur Road area, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Tragic Collision and Immediate Aftermath
According to official reports, the underage driver was alone in the orange BMW at the time of the incident. After striking the scooter, he allegedly fled the scene, abandoning the injured victims. The impact was so forceful that the two-wheeler subsequently collided with a parked car by the roadside, exacerbating the injuries sustained by the young riders.
The complainant, a Class IX student residing in Sawarkar Nagar along Gangapur Road, suffered a fractured nose along with multiple injuries to his face, hands, and legs. His friend, who was also on the scooter, sustained injuries to both legs. Both teenagers were rushed to a private hospital by the complainant's maternal uncle, following a distress call to his mother.
Police Investigation and Legal Actions Taken
On the basis of a formal complaint filed by one of the victims, the Gangapur police have registered a serious case against the juvenile BMW driver. The charges include sections 109 (attempt to murder), 281 (reckless driving), and 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicle Act.
Assistant Inspector Nikhil Pawar provided crucial insights into the investigation. "Although the 16-year-old hit the two other boys on the scooter and fled the scene, he was soon traced and detained as the complainant gave the police all his details, including the make of the car and its registration number," Pawar stated. The police acted swiftly, detaining the accused teenager on Monday.
On January 26, the underage driver was produced before a juvenile court, which subsequently sent him to a remand home. It has been revealed that both parents of the accused are government servants, adding a layer of complexity to the case.
Root Cause: A Seven-Month-Old Dispute Escalates
The police investigation has uncovered that this violent incident allegedly stemmed from a dispute that occurred approximately seven months ago. The complainant recounted that he and his friend from Kamgaar Nagar, Satpur, were having coffee in the College Road area when the accused, sitting at a nearby table, persistently stared at them.
This seemingly minor confrontation escalated into a heated argument. Although bystanders intervened to stop the quarrel, the 16-year-old accused reportedly issued a threatening warning, vowing that he would not spare the complainant in the future.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Accident
The complainant, who frequently visits College Road for tuition classes and whose mother runs a boutique, described the moments leading up to the collision. On Saturday evening, as he and his friend were returning from their class on College Road, riding a moped near Prasad Mangal Karyalay along Gangapur Road, he spotted the accused in the orange BMW through the car's open front window.
Despite attempting to ignore the presence of the accused, the complainant noticed the BMW approaching from behind, honking continuously. In an effort to allow the car to pass, he slowly pulled the scooter towards the left side of the road. However, in a deliberate and alarming move, the 16-year-old driver allegedly hit the two-wheeler from behind and swiftly fled the spot, as detailed in the First Information Report (FIR).
This case highlights critical issues surrounding underage driving, road safety, and the escalation of personal disputes into violent acts. The Nashik police continue their investigation to ensure justice is served for the young victims.
