The trial in the Nasrapur rape and murder case continued before special judge S R Salunkhe on Monday, with the recording of evidence from prosecution witnesses. The hearing on the prosecution's application seeking alteration of the charge through the addition of Section 238 of the BNS, which pertains to causing the disappearance of evidence of an offence, was deferred.
Witness Examination and Documents
Prosecution witnesses PW-11 to PW-13 were examined during the day, while the examination-in-chief of PW-14 commenced but remained incomplete. The prosecution also brought on record several documents, including a memorandum panchnama, a request letter, a certificate under Section 63(4)(c) of the Evidence Act, a photography report, and a hash value certificate. The matter was adjourned for the continuation of the examination-in-chief of PW-14.
Witness List and Previous Evidence
Special public prosecutor Ajay Misar has submitted a list of 82 witnesses in the case. The court had earlier recorded the evidence of the deceased girl's parents and eight other witnesses. The case pertains to the alleged murder of a three-year-old girl from Nasrapur.
Accused and Defence
The accused, Bhimnrao Kamble (65), was subsequently arrested and is facing trial before the Sessions Court. He has denied all allegations against him. Kamble was produced through video conferencing on Monday and was represented by legal aid defence counsel Himmatrao Suryawanshi.
