A disturbing incident of domestic violence has emerged from Navi Mumbai, where a 31-year-old woman has been booked for allegedly attacking her husband and mother-in-law in a fit of rage. The accused, a resident of Taloja village, reportedly inflicted a knife injury on her husband's genitals while he was asleep, and later splashed hot water on her mother-in-law's face when she intervened. The attack occurred around 2 am on Thursday, following a quarrel over the couple's living arrangements.
Details of the Incident
According to the police, the accused woman had been persistently demanding that her husband live separately from his mother. However, the husband refused, and the mother-in-law supported her son's decision. This disagreement escalated into a heated argument, culminating in the violent attack. The husband, a 45-year-old auto driver, was fast asleep when his wife attacked him with a knife, causing a serious injury to his genitals. When he screamed for help, his mother rushed to his aid. In response, the accused woman threw hot water on her face, causing burn injuries.
Police Investigation
After the attack, the woman fled the house with the knife and is currently untraceable. The injured mother and son were immediately hospitalized and are reported to be in stable condition. Acting on a complaint filed by the husband, the Taloja police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon. A police team has been dispatched to Khopoli, where the accused's maternal home is located, but she has not been found yet.
The husband has three children from his first wife, who passed away four years ago. He married the accused after his first wife's death. The couple had been facing marital discord over the issue of living separately from the mother-in-law, which led to the tragic incident.
