The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) conducted a series of raids on Saturday night at three locations in Motihari linked to businessman Pappu Jaiswal, following a tip-off. The operation led to the recovery of a substantial quantity of drugs and cash.
Raids and Recoveries
The NCB team first targeted Jaiswal's grocery shop in Hindi Bazar, where they discovered Rs 3 crore in cash hidden inside four drums. Subsequently, the raiding party proceeded to a warehouse near the market and seized 'doda' packed in 10 sacks. The third location raided was Jaiswal's residence.
Background of the Accused
Pappu Jaiswal, originally a resident of Pipra near Motihari, is believed to have close ties with functionaries of the ruling political parties. He also operates a motel at Motipur along National Highway 28. His son, Manish Jaiswal, has previously been imprisoned for involvement in the illegal liquor trade, according to police officials.
Ongoing Investigation
The NCB is currently investigating Jaiswal's bank accounts, assets, and other networks to uncover the full extent of his illicit operations. Further details are awaited as the probe continues.
