NEET Paper Leak: Farmer's Son Among Accused, Village in Shock

In a shocking turn of events, the quiet village of Khurampur in Farrukhnagar, Gurgaon, witnessed the arrest of Yash Yadav, a first-year BAMS student, in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak. Yash, the son of a farmer, was taken away by Rajasthan police on Monday evening, leaving neighbors in disbelief. His face adorns a banner of the local Oxford Convent School, which lists him as the only student selected for MBBS—a feat that had earned him admiration in the village.

Background of the Accused

Yash, who scored 98% in CBSE exams, is a student at Manjira Devi Ayurvedic College and Hospital in Uttarkashi. He is the youngest of three siblings from a humble family. His brother is pursuing hotel management, and his sister is studying law at a private university. Neighbors describe the family as hardworking, with father Harbir Yadav working tirelessly to educate his children.

The Paper Leak Allegations

According to a senior Rajasthan police source, Yash is suspected of receiving a 'guess paper' containing 45 chemistry and 90 biology questions that appeared in the NEET exam held on May 3. The paper allegedly came from a person in Nashik. One suspect, Shubham Khairnar, has been arrested, but it is unclear if Yash received the paper directly from him.

Investigators believe that Yash sold the guess paper for Rs 15-20 lakh to Dinesh Biwal and others in Rajasthan. The Biwal family in Jaipur, three of whose members were arrested by the CBI on Tuesday, allegedly received the paper from Yash. Biwal is suspected of sharing it further. Yash is believed to have had access to the guess paper as early as April 26, a week before the exam.

Investigation and Connections

Investigators are tracing Yash's bank transactions to identify others involved. They suspect he connected with other paper leak suspects during his medical coaching stint in Sikar. The guess paper was eventually circulated widely beyond its initial recipients. Authorities are also probing whether Yash had any link to the 2024 NEET paper leak and if he was in direct contact with key suspects.

Village Reactions

Back in Khurampur, neighbors express shock and disbelief. Kapil Yadav, a neighbor who witnessed the arrest, said the family was given no reason for the detention. "He belongs to a very humble family. His father worked hard to educate his three children. He is falsely implicated," Kapil said. Mato Ram, 78, a longtime resident, added, "Police should have spoken to locals first. We have known him since childhood. He is a decent and sincere boy."

A woman from the village shared, "Despite being just neighbors, some of us haven't been able to eat since his arrest. His mother has fallen sick, and his father and brother are in Rajasthan pleading with cops to let them meet him."

The arrest has thrown the village into turmoil, as they struggle to reconcile the image of the studious boy with the serious allegations against him.
