Nemom Police Apprehend Prime Accused in Major Ganja Seizure Operation
In a significant breakthrough, Nemom police on Wednesday successfully arrested the prime accused involved in the seizure of a massive 325 kilograms of ganja from Pappanamcode. The arrest marks a crucial step in dismantling a widespread drug trafficking network operating across multiple states.
Accused Captured While Attempting to Flee to Himachal Pradesh
The accused, identified as Harikrishnan (33), a resident of Thirumala, was taken into custody from the MGR central railway station in Chennai. Authorities intercepted him as he was attempting to travel to Himachal Pradesh, likely to evade capture. Police investigations revealed that Harikrishnan had been hiding in Visakhapatnam prior to his arrest, demonstrating his efforts to avoid law enforcement.
Repeat Offender with Extensive Drug Trafficking History
Police officials confirmed that Harikrishnan is a repeat offender with a long history of involvement in drug trafficking activities. He had previously been arrested in a case involving the seizure of 400 kilograms of ganja, highlighting his persistent engagement in illicit narcotics trade. Currently, he faces multiple narcotics cases registered in both Kerala and Karnataka, underscoring the cross-state nature of his criminal operations.
Associate's Arrest Reveals Scale of Drug Network
Further exposing the extensive reach of this drug network, Harikrishnan's associate, Alan from Poojappura, was recently arrested by Odisha police. Alan was found in possession of hashish oil valued at an astonishing Rs 240 crore, indicating the large-scale and high-value operations of the syndicate. This arrest points to a well-organized network involved in trafficking various forms of narcotics across different regions.
The coordinated efforts by Nemom police, along with inter-state collaboration, have been pivotal in tracking down and apprehending key figures in this case. Authorities continue to investigate the full extent of the network to prevent further drug-related crimes and ensure public safety.
