Neo-Nazi Teenager Launches Knife Attack at Russian University Dormitory, Injuring Six
A 15-year-old youth, allegedly connected to a prohibited neo-Nazi organization, carried out a violent stabbing spree at a university dormitory in Russia's Bashkortostan Republic on Saturday. The assailant left at least six individuals wounded, including four Indian students, in a shocking incident that has drawn international attention.
Attack Details and Extremist Ideology
According to preliminary reports, the teenager, armed with a knife, entered a dormitory belonging to the State Medical University in Ufa. Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic and chaos inside the hostel, with one account noting, "There was blood all around" as injured victims were rushed to hospitals in ambulance vans.
The Baza channel reported that the attacker was linked to extremist ideology, specifically the banned NS/WP neo-Nazi organization. During the frenzied assault, he was heard shouting nationalist slogans about the Holocaust. In a disturbing act, he drew a Swastika on a wall using the blood of his victims, underscoring the hate-driven nature of the attack.
Resistance and Injuries
The attacker continued to resist even after police intervention. Interior ministry spokesperson Major General Irina Volk stated that during the arrest, two police officers were stabbed, and the suspect also inflicted bodily harm on himself. The Russian Federal Health Ministry confirmed that one of the four injured Indian students is in serious condition, while three others are in moderate condition.
The attacker, identified as a 15-year-old, has been admitted to a local children's hospital in serious condition, according to the Baza Telegram channel.
Indian Embassy Response and Investigation
The Indian Embassy termed the event an "unfortunate incident" and confirmed that several persons, including four Indian students, were injured. Officials are in touch with Russian authorities, and representatives from the Indian Consulate in Kazan are traveling to Ufa to provide assistance to the affected students.
Authorities in Ufa, the capital of the Bashkortostan Republic located approximately 1,200 kilometers east of Moscow, have launched a high-level probe into the incident to uncover further details and ensure justice.
