Chennai: A day after a Nepalese man was rescued while attempting to die by suicide after killing his 9-year-old daughter on the premises of the school she attended, he died at the hospital without responding to treatment. Police stated that the man, Lakshmanan Prasad, 40, worked as the watchman of Kalyanam Govt High School in Chintadripet, where he committed the crime.
Details of the Incident
The man, during a video call with his wife, showed her how he murdered their daughter and his own suicide attempt. Although his attempt initially failed, he later died in the hospital on Monday.
Police reported that Lakshmanan Prasad had frequent disputes with his wife, and recently, she had returned to Nepal with their other daughter. Since then, Lakshmanan Prasad had been living with Geetha on the school campus.
Discovery and Response
Vani, 43, a school assistant, went to the second floor for routine work and found the father and daughter unconscious. She alerted other staff members, who rushed to the spot. Upon receiving information, Chintadripet police reached the school, recovered the girl's body, and sent it to the Govt Omandurar Medical College Hospital for postmortem. Lakshmanan Prasad was admitted to the same hospital for treatment but died on Monday.
