Newborn Girl's Body Discovered in Panchkula Garbage Heap
In a distressing incident, the body of a newborn girl was found in a heap of garbage near a plot in Industrial Area Phase-1 of Panchkula on Saturday. The discovery has sent shockwaves through the local community and prompted a swift police investigation.
Discovery During Garbage Collection
According to sources, the grim find was made when a team from the Municipal Corporation (MC) was lifting garbage using a JCB machine in the area. Workers noticed the infant's body amid the waste, and realizing the gravity of the situation, they immediately informed the police. The body was subsequently taken into custody and sent to the mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Police Investigation Underway
Preliminary investigations have not yet clarified whether the baby was already dead when she was dumped or if she died later. Police are actively scanning CCTV footage from cameras in and around the area to identify who left the infant there and at what time. During the initial examination, the infant appeared to be around five days old.
Key Lead in the Case
A significant clue emerged when it was discovered that the infant was wrapped in a sheet bearing the words, "Haryana health department." Police are treating this detail as an important lead in their investigation. Additionally, authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the Sector-6 civil hospital to identify who might have accompanied the infant, potentially linking the case to healthcare facilities in the region.
The incident has raised serious concerns about child safety and welfare in the area, with police urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in the investigation.
