Newborn's Body Found on Terrace in Ghaziabad

A shocking discovery was made in the Sihani Gate area of Ghaziabad on Friday evening, where the body of a newborn girl was found on a residential terrace. The incident has sent ripples through the Nehru Nagar locality and prompted a swift police response.

Discovery and Immediate Police Action

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Dhawal Jaiswal, the police control room received information around 9 pm on Friday about the grim find. The infant's body was located on the second-floor terrace of a house in Nehru Nagar, which falls under the Sihani Gate police jurisdiction.

Officers rushed to the spot and conducted a thorough inspection of the incident site. To aid the investigation, a forensic team was summoned to collect scientific evidence. The body was then sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities have stated that both the forensic and autopsy reports are currently awaited.

Mother Identified and Her Statement

The initial police investigation quickly led them to the infant's mother, a 19-year-old woman. During questioning, the woman revealed that she was married and had recently come to stay with her sister, who lives in a house adjoining the location where the body was found.

She provided a harrowing account to the police, claiming she had given birth to the baby around 6 am on Friday. She stated that the child was stillborn. Overcome by fear and lacking awareness of the proper legal procedures, she and her family did not inform the police or seek medical assistance. Instead, in a state of panic, they decided to dispose of the body by throwing it from their roof towards what they believed was an empty plot of land. However, the body allegedly fell onto their neighbour's terrace, where it was later discovered.

Ongoing Investigation and Next Steps

The Ghaziabad Police have confirmed that a detailed investigation into the case is actively underway. While the young mother has been detained for questioning, officials are proceeding cautiously, waiting for the crucial medical and forensic evidence.

An FIR (First Information Report) will be formally registered once the autopsy results are received, which will provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding the infant's death. The police are examining all angles, including the woman's claim of a stillbirth, to ascertain the full sequence of events and determine any potential legal violations.

The case highlights tragic consequences stemming from fear and a lack of awareness about protocols for handling such sensitive situations.
