NH-2 Blockade: Adequate Police Deployed in Kohima

Dimapur: Kohima senior superintendent of police (SP) Krodi Rhetso on Tuesday stated that adequate police personnel have been deployed to ensure the safety of stranded drivers along National Highway 2 (NH-2) in Kohima district. This measure comes as a large number of heavy vehicles remain stuck due to ongoing economic blockades imposed by both the Kukis and the Nagas in Manipur.

Rhetso appealed to the public and media to refrain from spreading provocative messages on social media that could disturb peace and harmony in the district. He made these remarks while highlighting the law and order situation during the monthly Kohima District Planning and Development Board meeting held in the deputy commissioner's conference hall.

Emphasizing the unique security challenges faced by Kohima as the state capital, Rhetso pointed out the presence of various criminal elements. He informed that the police have recently arrested several individuals and are closely monitoring illegal activities, including reports of illegal taxation in Kohima town.
