Noida Carpenter Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Partner's Mother in Fit of Rage
A 45-year-old carpenter has been taken into custody by Noida police on Thursday for the brutal murder of his partner's mother. The accused, identified as Mohd Shafiq alias Javed, allegedly stabbed the 50-year-old woman to death after she vehemently opposed his romantic relationship with her son.
Discovery of the Crime and Police Response
According to ADCP (Noida) Manisha Singh, authorities received an emergency alert via the 112 helpline on Wednesday regarding a woman found stabbed to death in the Sarfabad area of Sector 113. Neighbors discovered the body after noticing blood stains near her room and immediately contacted law enforcement.
The victim was identified as Phooljahan, a resident of Sarfabad who lived with her son Mohsin. Police teams swiftly arrived at the location and transported the body for a comprehensive post-mortem examination. Investigators meticulously reviewed CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify and track the perpetrator.
Arrest and Recovery of Evidence
Mohd Shafiq, who also resided in the same locality, was apprehended near Tivoli farmhouse on Thursday following intensive police efforts. During the arrest, officers confiscated the murder weapon—a knife—along with Phooljahan's mobile phone from his possession.
Background of the Relationship and Motive
Police investigations revealed that Shafiq had taken Mohsin as an apprentice approximately one year ago. The two men subsequently developed a romantic relationship. When Phooljahan discovered their involvement, she strongly objected to the union.
In an attempt to circumvent her opposition, Shafiq and Mohsin devised a plan for Mohsin to marry Shafiq's niece. However, when Shafiq visited Phooljahan on Wednesday to present this marriage proposal, she rejected it outright.
The Fatal Attack
Enraged by her continued resistance, Shafiq allegedly launched a violent assault on Phooljahan. He reportedly stabbed her multiple times in the throat, abdomen, and chest before fleeing the scene. The attack proved fatal, leaving the woman dead from her injuries.
Legal Proceedings
An FIR has been officially registered against Mohd Shafiq under BNS Section 103(1) for murder, along with sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act. The case highlights the tragic consequences of relationship conflicts escalating into extreme violence.
This incident underscores the importance of community vigilance and prompt emergency response. The Noida police continue their investigation to ensure all aspects of the case are thoroughly examined and justice is served for the victim and her family.
