Noida Murder: Driver Arrested for Strangling Woman Over Cash

Noida Police Arrest Delhi Driver in Gruesome Murder Case

In a shocking incident, police in Noida have arrested a Delhi-based driver for allegedly strangling a woman to death with her own scarf following a financial dispute and dumping her body on a service road in Sector 129. The victim, identified as Kavita, also known as Kavya, was found deceased on Monday on the service road in front of Gulshan Mall, sparking a thorough investigation.

Victim's Background and Relationship Details

Kavita, believed to be a domestic worker, resided on Kali Mandir Road in Kalika Dham, Delhi, with her husband Shankar, who works as a hospital cleaner, and their daughter. According to police reports, she had recently come into contact with Vicky Mathur, a car driver from Ganesh Nagar Complex in east Delhi. Over the past 15 to 20 days, the two had grown close, leading to frequent arguments between Kavita and her husband over her communication with Mathur.

A day prior to the tragic event, Kavita and Shankar had a heated quarrel over this issue, prompting them to call the emergency number 112. Police intervened, counseled the couple, and departed. Subsequently, Kavita left her home carrying Rs 3.5 lakh in cash and went to meet Mathur, setting the stage for the fatal encounter.

Alleged Murder and Investigation Findings

Police stated that Kavita and Mathur met and consumed alcohol together, during which an argument erupted over marriage. Kavita allegedly proposed to Mathur and offered him the money if he agreed to marry her, but he refused, citing his existing marital status. In the ensuing altercation, Mathur is accused of strangling her with her scarf, seizing the cash and her bag, and fleeing the scene.

Additional DCP Manisha Singh revealed that the murder occurred in Delhi, after which the accused transported the body and discarded it on the service road near Sector 129 in Noida. On March 2, Expressway police received information about a woman's body lying on the road, promptly reached the location, took custody of the body, and initiated an investigation.

Authorities later traced the victim's identity and informed her family. Based on a complaint filed by her husband, a formal case was registered, leading to Mathur's arrest. During the investigation, police recovered the car used in the crime and Rs 3.02 lakh in cash from him, providing crucial evidence in the case.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about domestic disputes escalating into violence and the swift action taken by law enforcement to bring the perpetrator to justice. The police continue to delve deeper into the motives and circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
