Noida Residents Voice Frustration Over Two-Decade Park Encroachment in Sector 44

Residents of Kartik Kunj Apartments in Sector 44, Noida, have expressed growing frustration over a persistent encroachment issue that has plagued their society complex for nearly twenty years. According to the Noida Master Plan, the land in question is designated as a sector park, but it has been overtaken by illegal occupants, raising serious concerns about public safety, hygiene, and community well-being.

Safety and Health Risks Escalate Due to Encroachment

Avadesh Singh, secretary of the Kartik Kunj Residents' Welfare Association (KKRWA), highlighted the severe impact of the encroachment. "What was meant to be a park for the sector has turned into a hub for criminal activities and unhygienic conditions," he stated. Residents who purchased park-facing apartments at a premium now feel deprived of the promised amenities, with Singh adding, "This is both unfair and unacceptable given the amount we invested in our homes."

The encroachment has led to a surge in antisocial behavior, illegal dumping, and waterlogging, creating an environment conducive to disease and criminal activities. One resident emphasized, "This is more than just an inconvenience; it is a serious safety hazard."

Previous Authority Actions Prove Ineffective

Despite previous efforts by the Noida Authority to remove encroachments, the problem has persisted, with illegal occupants repeatedly returning over the years. Residents report that these actions have not yielded long-term results, exacerbating their concerns.

Formal Complaint Filed with Noida Authority

In response, the KKRWA has filed a formal complaint with the additional CEO (ACEO) of the Noida Authority, seeking immediate intervention. A letter issued to the Authority outlines the urgency of the situation, stating that the health and safety of residents are in jeopardy. "We are hopeful that necessary measures would be taken to address our concerns. We urge the Authority to take decisive action and provide the necessary police support to ensure the encroachments are cleared," said a resident.

A response from the Noida Authority is currently awaited as residents continue to advocate for the restoration of their designated park space.
