Noida Techie's Autopsy Reveals Mud-Clogged Nose, Water in Lungs in Tragic Drowning
The autopsy report of a Noida-based software professional tells a harrowing story. Yuvraj Mehta's nose was blocked with mud. Water filled his lungs and chest cavity. These findings confirm he died from drowning in a deep water-filled pit early Saturday morning.
Fatal Journey Through Dense Fog
Around midnight on Friday, Yuvraj Mehta was driving home. The 27-year-old techie traveled from Gurgaon to his Noida residence in Sector 150. Dense fog blanketed the roads that night.
His Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara veered off the dark road less than a kilometer from home. The car crashed through a low, partially broken boundary wall. It plunged into a large water-filled excavation pit.
Two-Hour Struggle for Life
Family members described a desperate struggle. Yuvraj managed to climb out of his partially submerged vehicle. He stood on the car's roof, screaming for help for nearly two hours.
Police officers arrived at the scene but did not enter the water. Knowledge Park Station House Officer Sarvesh Singh explained their hesitation. They feared the pit might be a construction site with submerged iron rods.
"Visibility was poor," Singh stated. "We heard from local people that it was a construction site; our team didn't want to enter the water... But we still did everything that was within our capacity."
Autopsy Confirms Cause of Death
The post-mortem examination report cited the official cause of death. Yuvraj Mehta died from asphyxia due to ante mortem drowning. This was followed by cardiac arrest.
The water-filled plot where the tragedy occurred is enormous. Residents describe it as resembling a lake. Dense bushes and tall grasses frame its edges.
A section of the concrete boundary wall shows significant damage. Large chunks of concrete are missing. Rusted reinforcement bars protrude from the broken structure.
Family's Devastating Loss
Yuvraj Mehta lived with his father at the Tata Eureka Park housing society in Sector 150. His mother passed away two years ago. The young software professional served as the family's sole earning member.
His death leaves his father without financial support. The tragedy highlights the vulnerability of single-income households in urban India.
Police Action Against Builders
The Greater Noida Police registered an FIR on Sunday. They named two real estate companies in the document: MZ Wiztown Planners Private Limited and Lotus Greens Construction Private Limited.
Authorities invoked sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 against the firms. These include:
- Culpable homicide
- Causing death by negligence
- Endangering life and personal safety
A spokesperson for Lotus Greens issued a statement denying responsibility. The company claimed the plot was transferred to another firm in 2019-20 with Noida Authority approval.
Abhay Kumar, Director of Wiztown, presented a different version. He stated Lotus Greens sold them the land already excavated in 2020. Kumar alleged the Noida Authority withheld commencement permission, paralyzing the project.
Authority's Response and Safety Inspection
The Noida Authority has demanded a detailed report. They seek information about the allocation and construction work of Lotus Builders. Officials instructed all departments to re-inspect safety measures at under-construction projects in their areas.
This tragedy follows previous complaints from local residents. Months before the drowning incident, citizens wrote to MP Mahesh Sharma about broken, dark roads in the area. Their warnings apparently went unheeded.
The case continues to develop as investigations proceed. Authorities face mounting pressure to improve safety standards and hold responsible parties accountable for this preventable death.
