Noida woman murdered by ex-boyfriend over marriage refusal

Tragic Shooting in Noida Home

A 23-year-old woman named Soni was brutally shot dead by her former boyfriend in Noida on Friday night after she refused to marry him. The horrific incident occurred in front of her two younger sisters in their modest one-room house in Yakubpur village.

The victim, originally from Amroha, worked as a clerk at a private company and shared her small living space with sisters Kusum (17) and Pushpa (14), and younger brother Rupesh (15), who was fortunately away attending a relative's wedding during the attack.

Relationship History Turns Deadly

According to police investigations, Soni first met Krishna, the 25-year-old accused, three years ago when both were employed as domestic workers at a high-rise society in Sector 142. What began as friendship soon developed into a romantic relationship, but problems emerged due to Krishna's aggressive behavior.

A senior police officer revealed that "the woman was not happy with Krishna as he was very aggressive." The officer added that "a few times, he had even slapped her over trivial issues," indicating a pattern of domestic abuse that ultimately led Soni to end the relationship four months ago.

Seeking to escape Krishna's persistent advances, Soni moved to a new building and for the past 15 days had stopped taking his calls entirely. However, her attempts to distance herself from the aggressive former partner proved futile.

The Fatal Confrontation

On Friday evening, Krishna tracked down Soni's new residence and arrived just as she returned from work. Her sister Kusum recounted the terrifying sequence of events to authorities. "It was surprising that Krishna came to the house. Soni didn't allow him to come home because of his bad behaviour towards her," the teenage witness stated.

Krishna reportedly knocked on the door, pushed his way inside when the sisters opened it, locked the gate behind him, and claimed he only wanted to talk. What began as a conversation quickly escalated into a heated argument when Soni tried to force him to leave.

When Soni attempted to call the police, Krishna snatched her phone and threw it away. He then fired three warning shots into the wall while trying to pressure her into accepting his marriage proposal. As Soni tried to open the door to escape to the police station, Krishna placed his gun directly on her chest and pulled the trigger.

The sound of gunshots alerted neighbors who rushed to the scene. "People started knocking on our door," Kusum recalled. "But Krishna opened the door and threatened them with the gun before escaping from the building."

Police Response and Investigation

Local residents immediately contacted police, who arrived and transported the critically injured Soni to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her gunshot wounds despite medical attention.

Shakti Mohan Avasthy, DCP (central Noida), confirmed that an FIR has been registered against Krishna under Section 103 (murder) of the BNS. The police have formed five specialized teams to apprehend the accused and are actively reviewing CCTV footage from the area while utilizing surveillance technology to track his movements.

The tragic case highlights the growing concerns about violence against women in relationships and the dangers victims face when attempting to leave abusive partners. The investigation continues as police work to bring the perpetrator to justice.
