North Chotanagpur Police Arrest 79 Criminals in Overnight Enforcement Drive
In a significant crackdown on criminal activity, police across the North Chotanagpur zone have arrested 79 criminals in an overnight enforcement campaign spanning seven districts. The operation was conducted under the directives of Inspector General (IG) Sunil Bhaskar, who emphasized the urgent need to trace absconding accused and reduce the backlog of pending warrants to mitigate law-and-order risks.
District-Wise Arrests and Warrant Execution
The targeted raids yielded substantial results, with Hazaribag leading the effort by making 24 arrests. Following closely were Giridih with 17 arrests, Dhanbad with 13, Koderma with 11, Chatra with 8, and Ramgarh with 4. Bokaro recorded the lowest number of arrests, with just two individuals apprehended.
In addition to the arrests, police executed 239 pending warrants across the zone, reflecting an intensified enforcement strategy. Giridih topped this list by executing 64 warrants, followed by Hazaribag with 58 and Chatra with 51. Dhanbad executed 34 warrants, Ramgarh executed 24, and Bokaro again had the lowest figure with two warrants executed.
IG's Directives and Future Plans
IG Sunil Bhaskar stated that the campaign is part of a sustained effort to strengthen policing, improve warrant execution, and dismantle active criminal networks. He reviewed the district-wise performance and directed underperforming units to enhance their arrest rates and accelerate the execution of pending warrants.
The IG added that the drive will be further intensified to maintain pressure on absconders and improve overall law and order in the region. This initiative underscores a proactive approach to addressing criminal threats and ensuring public safety in North Chotanagpur.
