A home guard posted in Nuh has been suspended for alleged indiscipline after videos of him smoking and creating social media reels while in uniform surfaced online. The case has also raised questions about his uniform, as some clips showed him wearing a police uniform with two stars, typically associated with a sub-inspector rank.
Action Initiated by SP
The action was initiated by Nuh Superintendent of Police Arpit Jain after the videos were flagged by the police’s social media cell. The home guard, identified as Shekhawat, was active on social media under the name “Sakhawat SI.” In several clips, he was seen smoking with civilians while in uniform, triggering scrutiny within the department.
Official Order and Suspension
An official order issued by the SP’s office stated that such conduct “tarnished the image of the police among the general public” and amounted to “gross negligence and indiscipline.” An inquiry was initiated after the matter came to light. During the preliminary probe, the allegations were found to be substantiated, following which the home guard was placed under suspension.
Further Directives
The SP also wrote to the centre commandant of the home guards department in Nuh, directing that the personnel be removed from duty and replaced to ensure smooth functioning of law and order duties. Officials said such behaviour in uniform amounts to serious indiscipline and undermines the credibility of the force. “Personnel are expected to maintain decorum and professionalism both on duty and in public spaces,” a senior officer stated.
Strengthening Monitoring
Officials added that monitoring of personnel’s social media activity is being strengthened, and any instance of inappropriate conduct will invite strict disciplinary action. “The move is part of a broader effort to ensure discipline within the force while maintaining public trust and accountability,” an officer said.
