In a shocking incident from Kanpur Dehat, a self-proclaimed occultist has been arrested for the brutal murder of a 26-year-old youth who sought his help to reunite with a married girlfriend through black magic rituals. The crime unfolded in Arshadpur village where the accused allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times after intoxicating him with alcohol.
The Tragic Sequence of Events
The victim, identified as Rajababu (26) of Keshari Arshadpur village, had approached the accused Neelu seeking supernatural intervention to bring back his former girlfriend who had married someone else in May. According to police investigations, Neelu initially demanded money for performing the rituals, with Rajababu paying him Rs 36,000 as an initial amount.
"The accused later demanded an additional Rs 6 lakh, but they eventually settled on Rs 2 lakh," revealed police officials familiar with the case details. On November 24, Neelu invited Rajababu to his village for performing the promised black magic ritual.
Murder and Attempted Cover-up
The two men purchased liquor together and proceeded to a field where the ritual was supposed to take place. After consuming alcohol, Neelu attempted to take money from Rajababu, which led to resistance from the victim. This confrontation turned violent when the accused attacked Rajababu, stabbing him multiple times in the chest.
In an attempt to stage the murder as suicide, Neelu placed the knife in the victim's hand before fleeing the scene with Rs 1.5 lakh and the victim's mobile phone. The accused dumped the body in bushes near a local shrine before making his escape.
Police Investigation Breakthrough
The case saw a major breakthrough when police examined CCTV footage that showed both the victim and accused together. Another crucial piece of evidence came from scanning the barcode on a liquor packet found at the crime scene, which led investigators to a shop near Bhewan and Kesri Niwada villages.
SP Shraddha Narendra Pandey confirmed that the police have arrested the accused and recovered the murder weapon. "The accused has been caught and the knife used in the murder has also been recovered," stated the senior police officer.
Rajababu, who was pursuing his BA degree, lived with his father Santram Singh, mother Sukhdevi, and elder brother Pramod in Arshadpur village. His family reported him missing on the night of November 24, only to discover his blood-soaked body the following day.
Background of the Accused
Villagers revealed that Neelu, hailing from neighboring Biharipurwa, had returned from Delhi where he worked as a tailor before claiming to practice occult rituals. The accused is married with three brothers and six sisters in his family.
The investigation uncovered that Rajababu's belief in Neelu's supernatural powers strengthened when the married girl visited her maternal home in November and had a fight with her husband. The victim mistakenly interpreted this domestic dispute as evidence of Neelu's magical abilities and approached him again for more rituals, ultimately leading to his tragic death.
