Private Tutor in Odisha Held for Alleged Murder of Teenage Student

In a shocking incident from Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, a 39-year-old private tuition teacher has been taken into custody by police on Sunday. The arrest follows the alleged murder of a 14-year-old Class VIII student, who reportedly rejected his unwelcome advances.

Discovery of the Victim's Body

The young girl's body was recovered on Saturday from a forested area under the jurisdiction of Karanjia police. It was found concealed inside a sack, barely 500 meters from her own village. Police officials stated that the location suggested a deliberate attempt to hide the crime.

Background of the Accused and Victim

The accused, identified as Trilochan Mahakud, had previously taught the victim in his coaching classes back in 2021. According to investigators, Mahakud had been making inappropriate advances towards the girl, which had not gone unnoticed by her family. The family had reportedly warned him to stay away from their daughter.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Crime

Feeling humiliated by the rejection and the family's intervention, Mahakud allegedly called the girl to meet him on Friday evening. He took her to a deserted location where, after a heated altercation, he strangled her with his hands. Police further revealed that he then used his belt to ensure her death.

Police Investigation and Arrest

When the teenager failed to return home on Friday, her family promptly filed a missing person complaint. Law enforcement agencies immediately sprang into action, tracking her movements and examining her call records. This digital trail led them directly to Trilochan Mahakud.

During subsequent questioning, the accused allegedly confessed to the heinous crime. Based on his confession and the evidence gathered, he was formally arrested. The Senior Deputy Superintendent of Police (SDPO) for Karanjia, Nabakrushna Nayak, provided these details to the press, confirming the arrest and the ongoing investigation.

Current Status and Further Actions

The police have confirmed that the body was discovered stuffed in a sack near bushes close to the victim's residence. This grim find has intensified the investigation, with authorities now working to uncover all aspects of the case. Further legal proceedings and a thorough probe are currently underway to ensure justice is served.
