Social Media Star Orry Questioned in High-Profile Drug Case

The Mumbai Police has called upon prominent social media personality Orhan "Orry" Awatramani for questioning in connection with the massive Rs 252-crore mephedrone seizure case. According to ANI reports, the police have directed Orry to appear before the Anti-Narcotics Cell's Ghatkopar unit at 10 am on Thursday.

Official sources confirmed that Orry's name emerged during the ongoing investigation, prompting the summons. However, authorities have clarified that the questioning is purely procedural and aims to establish clarity on statements made by an arrested drug trafficker. No formal charges have been filed against Orry at this stage of the investigation.

Massive Drug Seizure and International Connections

The case originated in March 2024 when Mumbai Police conducted a major operation, seizing 126.14 kg of mephedrone, commonly known as MD, from an illegal manufacturing unit operating from a farm in Sangli district. The confiscated drugs were valued at approximately Rs 252 crore, making it one of the significant drug busts in recent times.

Recent developments in the probe have uncovered international dimensions, with investigators revealing that rave parties were organized in both Mumbai and Dubai by Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh. Shaikh is identified as a close associate of fugitive drug kingpin Salim Dola, who has established connections with the Dawood Ibrahim network.

Police documents presented before a Mumbai court indicate that Shaikh hosted extravagant parties allegedly attended by several high-profile individuals. The list includes Alishah, son of Dawood Ibrahim's late sister Haseena Parkar, along with Bollywood actors Nora Fatehi, Shraddha Kapoor, and Siddhant Kapoor.

In their official remand plea, police also named film producer duo Abbas-Mustan, rapper Loka, Orry, and NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique as individuals who were allegedly present at some of these events. Investigators are currently cross-checking these claims and verifying the identities of all individuals mentioned by the accused.

According to India Today reports, officials emphasized that Orry's appearance is part of the verification process to either corroborate or refute the trafficker's statements. The ANC is simultaneously analyzing digital footprints, communication records, and financial transactions linked to the events under scrutiny.

Previous Controversy and Growing Investigation

This marks the second time Orry has found himself involved in a substance-related controversy. Earlier, he and seven others were booked by Jammu & Kashmir Police for allegedly consuming alcohol at a hotel in Katra near the Vaishno Devi shrine. The area strictly prohibits alcohol and non-vegetarian food, and an FIR was filed for violating local laws and hurting religious sentiments.

The current drug case has already resulted in multiple arrests and substantial drug seizures. Police authorities have indicated that more summons are likely to be issued as they continue mapping the extent of the drug network and verifying the involvement of other individuals whose names have surfaced during the investigation.

Orry Awatramani has become a pop-culture phenomenon without formally claiming any specific profession. Known for his flamboyant social media presence and close associations with young Bollywood actors, he is often described as a socialite, influencer, and Gen-Z performance artist. He is the son of businessman Suraj K. Awatramani, whose business interests span real estate, hospitality, and beverage manufacturing.

Authorities have reiterated that the inquiry remains at a preliminary stage, and they are following all standard investigative procedures to ensure a thorough examination of the case.
