A 30-year-old Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel, assigned to a critical security detail, was discovered deceased under unclear conditions in Lucknow. The incident, which sent shockwaves through the force, occurred on Thursday evening within the premises of the Gautampalli police station area.
Discovery of the Tragedy
The body of the jawan was found on Thursday, but the situation came to wider attention on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Gulzar Ali, who originally hailed from Muzaffarnagar district. Ali was a member of the 49th Battalion of the PAC (Gautam Budh Nagar) and was presently posted in the state capital for a specialized guard assignment known as 'Very Special Security' (VSS) duty.
Sequence of Events Before Death
According to authorities familiar with the probe, the alarm was raised when Ali did not report for his scheduled evening shift on Thursday night. Preliminary inquiries indicate that after finishing his morning responsibilities, the jawan had his midday meal at the unit mess. He then went to the guard room to take rest on his bed in the afternoon.
When he failed to appear for his duty rotation at 4 pm, concerned colleagues went to check on him. They found Ali lying unconscious on the bed and completely unresponsive to their calls.
Police Investigation and Formalities
The unconscious jawan was rushed immediately to the Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. Senior police officials from both Gautampalli and Hazratganj police stations swiftly arrived at the location after being informed.
The Hazratganj police have since carried out the necessary panchnama (preliminary inquest) procedures. While the investigation is ongoing, police officials have stated that they are currently awaiting the autopsy report to determine the precise cause of death. They have also preliminarily ruled out any suspicion of foul play in the incident.
