A high-speed Audi car triggered a chain-reaction collision in the heart of Panaji on Sunday night, leaving a trail of damaged vehicles but fortunately causing no injuries. The incident, which occurred around 10 pm, has prompted a police investigation into the circumstances that led to the multi-vehicle damage.
Sequence of Events at Hotel Fidalgo Junction
The accident unfolded on the busy 18th June Road. According to preliminary information from the Panaji police, the driver of an Audi was travelling from the Boca de Vaca area towards the Panaji police station. Upon reaching the crucial Hotel Fidalgo junction, the driver reportedly lost control of the luxury vehicle.
The speeding Audi then rammed into another car that was on its way towards Church Square. This initial impact set off a domino effect. The force of the collision caused the driver of the second car to lose control as well. This vehicle subsequently swerved and hit two other four-wheelers that were parked along the side of 18th June Road.
No Casualties But Significant Damage
Miraculously, despite the violent nature of the crash, there were no reports of any casualties. Officials confirmed that there were a total of four passengers across the two moving vehicles involved in the initial crash – two individuals in each car. All occupants escaped physical harm, but the same could not be said for their vehicles.
The cumulative result was significant property damage, with four vehicles sustaining various degrees of damage in the entire sequence. The scene at the junction was one of shattered glass and dented metal, drawing attention from locals and passersby.

The Panaji police have taken cognizance of the incident and have officially registered a case. An investigation is currently ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident.
