In a significant four-day drive to curb criminal activities, the Panchkula police launched an intensive crackdown under the newly initiated 'Operation Hotspot Domination'. The coordinated effort targeted 101 identified sensitive locations across the district, resulting in multiple arrests and substantial recoveries.
Massive Combing Operations Across Identified Hotspots
The police action, which unfolded over the last four days, was marked by joint field operations. Teams from the crime branch, various police stations, and outposts worked in a synchronized manner to strengthen security in vulnerable areas. The focus was on dominating known criminal hotspots through visible and forceful presence.
As a result of this rigorous combing, the police registered a total of 12 separate cases. These cases spanned a range of offences including theft, liquor smuggling, and illegal gambling. The operation culminated in the arrest of 28 accused individuals.
Notorious Absconders Nabbed, Passport Cancellation Sought
Among those apprehended were nine particularly notorious absconders. These individuals were wanted in connection with violent crimes and had been successfully evading arrest for a considerable period. In a decisive move to prevent one accused from fleeing the country, the police have also forwarded a proposal to the concerned authorities to cancel his passport.
The crackdown yielded significant recoveries of illicit items and assets. The seized contraband included:
- A countrymade pistol and one live cartridge
- Six suspicious motorcycles
- Cash amounting to ₹1.18 lakh, linked to betting activities
- A tanker and 80 bottles of illicit liquor
Additionally, as part of ensuring regulatory compliance, police teams inspected two gun houses. These inspections verified license validity, adherence to safety norms, and proper maintenance of records.
Cold Relief: The Humanitarian Side of Policing
Beyond the strict law enforcement measures, 'Operation Hotspot Domination' also incorporated a notable humanitarian component. Recognizing the plight of the poor and homeless during the winter chill, police teams reached out to provide warmth and aid.
Officers personally visited roadside areas, vacant plots, and night shelters late into the night. Their mission was to identify and assist vulnerable individuals shivering in the cold. In total, 279 people received essential winter relief material, including warm clothes and blankets, directly from the police.
Senior officials emphasized that this dual approach—combining stringent action against criminals with compassionate outreach to the needy—forms an integral part of their modern policing model. The operation demonstrates a commitment to comprehensive public security that addresses both crime and community welfare.
