Anakapalle Police Crack Murder Case, Partner Arrested for Faking Accident
In a significant breakthrough, the Anakapalle district police have successfully solved the murder of a 40-year-old woman by arresting her live-in partner, who allegedly tried to disguise the crime as a road accident. The accused has been identified as Mari Kamesh, a native of Paderu, while the deceased was Vanthala Kumari, originally from G Madugula. Both individuals hailed from the Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district in Andhra Pradesh. Kumari had been married to VM Raju of G Madugula for nearly two decades, and the couple had two children together.
Approximately one year ago, Kumari developed a relationship with Kamesh, an unmarried man, and subsequently left her family to live with him. In February, the duo relocated to Yerravaram in Yelamanchili mandal of Anakapalle district, where they began working at a scrap shop.
Events Leading to the Tragic Incident
On Sunday midnight, after consuming liquor on the outskirts of Yerravaram, Kamesh and Kumari engaged in a heated quarrel over financial issues. In a fit of rage, Kamesh punched Kumari and forcefully banged her against the road, causing her to collapse. He then carried her to the scrap shop and contacted the owner in the early hours of Monday, falsely claiming that she had suffered injuries in a road accident.
Kumari was rushed to the government hospital at Yelamanchili, where doctors grew suspicious after examining her injuries. They declared that the woman had been brought dead and immediately alerted the police. Investigators confirmed that the wounds were consistent with assault, not a road accident.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Following a formal complaint from the scrap shop owner, Appa Rao, the police registered a case and swiftly arrested Kamesh. During interrogation, he confessed to murdering Kumari after the intense argument over money. The police have commended the vigilance of the hospital staff and the scrap shop owner for their roles in uncovering the truth.
