Patiala: Machete attack leaves 19-year-old critically injured

A 19-year-old youth sustained critical injuries on Sunday evening in a machete attack that almost severed one of his hands from the arm. The incident occurred near the Old Fort area in Nabha, Patiala. Doctors at a private hospital in Patiala are making efforts to save the victim Sujal's hand, but the current status remains unclear. According to police, the wrist bone was cut apart by a machete, but the hand remained attached to the forearm by skin. The youth also suffered a fracture in his other arm and a head injury.

Details of the Incident

According to the victim's statement, he and a friend were traveling on a motorcycle near the Old Fort area in Nabha when a group of youths allegedly intercepted them. When they resisted handing over their mobile phone, the attackers allegedly assaulted them. The victim further alleged that the assailants robbed his friend of Rs 3,000 before fleeing. The crime scene was located not far from the local police station.

Police Response

Nabha police station SHO Gurvinder Singh stated that they received information about the injured youth from a private hospital in Patiala on Monday. He said ASI Chamkaur Singh has been deputed to record the victim's statement, and a case will be registered accordingly. Police are making efforts to identify and arrest the accused.
