Patna Police Conducts Scientific Reconstruction in Student Death Case

In a significant development in the investigation into the suspicious death of an Intermediate student near AIIMS Golambar, the Patna police executed a scientific reconstruction of the incident on Tuesday. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team dropped four dummies, each matching the girl's weight, from various angles to meticulously analyze the circumstances surrounding her fatal fall.

Details of the Incident and Family Allegations

The tragic event occurred on February 12, when the student entered a multi-storey building in the Phulwarisharif police station area around 7:45 AM. She was scheduled to attend coaching classes on the first floor. However, CCTV footage revealed her ascending the stairs, following two youths who were also seen going upstairs. Approximately at 8:12 AM, she fell from the top floor of the five-storey building. Her family has vehemently alleged murder, claiming she was pushed, and pointed to multiple injuries on her body as evidence of a struggle.

Police Investigation and SIT Formation

City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh stated that a special investigation team (SIT) was formed immediately after the incident, led by the SDPO I of Phulwarisharif and including investigators from other police stations. "As part of the ongoing investigation, the crime scene was recreated on Tuesday. Four dummies matching the girl's weight were dropped from different angles by FSL. We will take expert opinion on what conditions might have existed at that time, and when we receive the report, we will share it publicly," he explained.

Significance of the Scientific Reconstruction

Elaborating on the importance of this exercise, Singh added, "This is very effective. When the police recreate a crime scene, they learn about the circumstances — whether there was a single impact, multiple injury impact, whether she was pushed, or other such things. Police will learn about these aspects. With the help of expert agency opinion, we will then complete our investigation." He emphasized that this scientific approach is crucial due to ambiguities in the post-mortem findings, which did not confirm sexual assault, and the need to determine if the fall was accidental or involved external force.

Clarity Through Evidence-Based Analysis

Singh stressed that clarity in the case will only emerge through scientific and evidence-based methods. "Clarity on this will come only when things are clarified scientifically and based on evidence. Expert analysis from the reconstruction results will guide the final investigation outcome," he asserted. The police are awaiting the expert report to proceed with the investigation, aiming to resolve the uncertainties surrounding this tragic incident.
