Tragedy Strikes Patna as Speeding Truck Claims Young Life
A devastating road accident near Akuri village in Patna's Paliganj subdivision has left one college student dead and another seriously injured. The incident occurred on Friday when a speeding truck collided with the motorcycle the two friends were riding.
The victim has been identified as Chunnu Kumar, a resident of Akuri village, who tragically lost his life in the collision. His friend, whose name hasn't been disclosed, sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.
College Dreams Cut Short by Reckless Driving
According to police officials, both young men were en route to their college in Paliganj when the tragedy struck. The truck driver, allegedly driving at high speed, rammed into their motorcycle near Akuri village.
Eyewitnesses reported that the truck driver attempted to flee the accident scene immediately after the collision. However, alert local residents intervened and managed to apprehend the driver before he could escape.
Public Outrage and Road Blockade
The tragic incident sparked immediate public outrage among local residents. Angered by the loss of a young life and the driver's attempt to escape, community members blocked the busy Paliganj-Aurangabad road.
Protesters demanded adequate compensation for the victim's family and stricter action against reckless drivers. The road blockade caused significant traffic disruptions in the area for several hours.
Paliganj DSP Rajiv Chandra Singh confirmed that police have seized the truck involved in the accident. "The vehicle has been impounded, and we are proceeding with further legal action as per established protocols," stated DSP Singh.
