Patna Temple Cook Dies by Suicide, Police Investigate Circumstances

A tragic incident unfolded in Patna on Monday afternoon when a 30-year-old cook employed at the renowned Jalla Hanuman Temple in Patna City died by suicide. The deceased has been identified as Ram Mangal Ram, a resident of Buxar district.

Sequence of Events Leading to the Discovery

According to statements from the temple management, Ram Mangal Ram had gone to rest in his room after having lunch. When he failed to return for an extended period, concerned colleagues went to check on him. Peering through the window, they made the grim discovery of him hanging from the ceiling.

The Bypass police were immediately alerted and responded to the scene. Officers broke open the locked door to gain entry. The body was subsequently sent for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Background and Police Investigation

Temple authorities revealed that Ram Mangal Ram had been recently transferred to the Jalla Hanuman Temple from the main Hanuman Temple in Patna just a few days prior to the incident. This detail has become a point of interest in the ongoing investigation.

Ranjit Kumar, the in-charge of Bypass police station, stated that the initial assessment points towards a case of suicide. "Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide," Kumar said. "However, a thorough investigation is currently underway to ascertain the precise reasons behind this extreme step. We are examining all angles, including his recent transfer and any potential personal or professional stressors."

Separate Case: Police Nab Three Cyber Criminals in Patna Raid

In an unrelated law enforcement action, Patna police arrested three individuals involved in organized cyber fraud and illegal ATM withdrawals on Monday. The arrests were made from the Musallahpur police station area.

Details of the Arrest and Seizure

The accused have been identified as Sonu Kumar from Patna, Balaji from Bhojpur, and Niranjan Sharma from Rajasthan. They were apprehended during a coordinated raid conducted on Sunday night based on credible intelligence.

Police recovered a significant cache of items from their possession, including:

  • 17 ATM cards
  • 19 SIM cards
  • 7 cellphones
  • 1 motorcycle
  • Barcode documents belonging to various companies

Police Operation and Statements

The operation was initiated after City SP (East) Parichay Kumar received a tip-off about a planned cyber fraud activity. Acting swiftly, Kumar formed a special team to investigate the lead.

"The raid was conducted based on specific information about their illicit activities," a police official stated. "The recovered items indicate a sophisticated operation targeting financial fraud through online means and unauthorized ATM transactions. Further investigation is ongoing to uncover the full extent of their network and victims."

These two incidents, while separate, highlight ongoing challenges in urban security and mental health in the region. The suicide case underscores the need for workplace support systems, while the cyber fraud arrests demonstrate continued police vigilance against digital crime.
