Patna Police Acts on Viral Social Media Post
In a swift response to a viral social media post, the Patna Police arrested a youth found brandishing a pistol in a photograph. The arrest took place on Wednesday from the AG Colony area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Shastrinagar police station.
Viral Photo Triggers Police Action
The incident came to light on December 2, when a photo of a young man posing with a pistol began circulating widely on various social media platforms. The police, actively monitoring online content, took immediate cognisance of the post. A dedicated team was formed to identify the individual in the photograph.
The person was identified as Sagar Kumar, a resident of Dhanbad. Following the identification, a police team moved quickly to locate and apprehend him.
Arrest and Recovery
The police successfully arrested Sagar Kumar from AG Colony in Patna. During the arrest, the authorities also recovered the pistol that was featured in the viral photograph. This seizure is a crucial part of the ongoing investigation.
SDPO 2 Saket Kumar provided details on the case, stating, "A video of a youth brandishing a weapon was going viral on social media. The matter came to notice on December 2. Following this, a police team was formed and he was arrested. An FIR has been registered and further action is being taken."
The police have registered a formal First Information Report (FIR) and are proceeding with the legal process. This case highlights the increasing role of social media in alerting law enforcement to potential threats and illegal activities, leading to prompt action.
