COIMBATORE: In a shocking incident, a gang allegedly hurled petrol bombs at the house of a 21-year-old woman in Kalikkanaickenpalayam near Thondamuthur, Coimbatore, after she rejected the advances of a man with a criminal past.

Incident Details

According to sources, the woman is a second-year postgraduate student at a private college and resides in Kalikkanaickenpalayam. She had reportedly befriended a man named Karthi, a resident of Chennai, through Instagram. Over time, Karthi developed feelings for her. However, upon learning that several criminal cases were registered against him, the woman decided to cut off all contact.

Enraged by her rejection, Karthi allegedly arrived at her house on Saturday evening accompanied by a group of friends. The gang reportedly hurled petrol bombs at the front entrance of the house before fleeing on motorcycles.

Police Response

After receiving information about the incident, Thondamuthur Police rushed to the spot. A police team conducted a preliminary investigation at the scene, and a case has been registered. Further investigations are underway to apprehend the accused.
