In a concerning incident from Pilibhit, three teenage students from reputed local schools have reportedly run away from their homes, triggering a major police search operation. The trio, comprising a 16-year-old girl and two boys aged 16 and 17, disappeared in the early hours of Monday, allegedly after taking significant cash, a motorcycle, and mobile phones.
Details of the Disappearance
The girl, a Class X student at a well-known college, left her home around 4 am. She was accompanied by the two boys, who are her former classmates. The three had studied together until Class IX, after which the girl's parents shifted her to a different institution. According to police reports, the 17-year-old boy took his mother's mobile phone and a motorcycle. The other boy, aged 16, allegedly took cash amounting to Rs 1.75 lakh from his residence.
In a move to potentially access funds, the girl is said to have removed the SIM card from her father's mobile phone, which was linked to internet banking. Officials believe the three minors fled using the stolen motorcycle.
Police Action and Investigation
Acting on a written complaint filed by the girl's father, the police have registered a First Information Report (FIR). The case has been filed under BNS Section 137(2), which pertains to kidnapping. The complainant has alleged that the two boys abducted his daughter by luring her away.
Sungarhi police station SHO Naresh Kumar Tyagi confirmed that an extensive search operation is underway. Police are employing electronic surveillance techniques to trace the missing teenagers. SHO Tyagi also revealed a crucial lead: an attempt was made on Monday morning to conduct a monetary transaction using the girl's UPI-linked account. However, the transaction failed due to a technical glitch.

The primary focus of the authorities remains the safe location and recovery of all three minors. The incident has caused alarm in the local community, highlighting issues related to teen behavior and parental supervision.
