Police Commando Killed in Anti-Drug Op, Accused Arrested

A policeman attached to the commando unit of Thoubal district police was stabbed to death by a suspected drug peddler during an anti-drug operation at Moijing Khongkok on Wednesday night. Police said that following intensive search operations, the main accused, Md. Naobi alias Mahil, was arrested on Thursday morning.

Incident Details

According to police, at around 8:20 pm on Wednesday, acting on credible information about an illicit drug transaction, a police team detained two suspects for verification. While being questioned, one of the suspects allegedly attacked Havildar Kh Suresh Singh of the 4th IRB with a knife, inflicting grievous injuries. Both suspects then fled the scene, abandoning their car.

Response and Investigation

Suresh Singh was rushed to Thoubal District Hospital but was declared brought dead. Security forces immediately launched extensive search operations to track down the accused. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
