A police constable and his friend were severely thrashed by a group of men after a cricket match at Ladian village in Ludhiana. The incident occurred on June 14 when Sooraj, a constable posted with the vigilance bureau, and his friend Joban were packing their gear after the match.
Altercation Leads to Violence
According to the complaint, an argument erupted between Joban and a local resident named Kaka. When Sooraj attempted to intervene and de-escalate the situation, Kaka allegedly summoned his relatives. The relatives arrived armed with blunt weapons and launched a violent assault on both friends before fleeing the scene.
Legal Action Taken
Haibowal police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Kaka, Bholu, Sumit, and their unidentified associates under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The charges include rioting, armed assault, and criminal intimidation. Officers confirmed that efforts to apprehend the suspects are ongoing.
This incident highlights the growing trend of post-match violence in rural areas, where trivial disputes escalate into serious crimes. The police have assured strict action against the accused.
