Police Report on Messi Visit Disorder for High Court

Kolkata: The Bidhannagar Police is preparing a report to submit before the Calcutta High Court regarding the alleged disorder that occurred at Salt Lake Stadium during Lionel Messi's visit to Kolkata last December. Meanwhile, the police are still awaiting a response from former sports minister Aroop Biswas, who has yet to respond to the summons sent to him or meet with the officers at the police station.

Background of the Case

The case originates from a complaint filed at the Bidhannagar South Police Station by event organizer Shatadru Dutta. Following the complaint, an FIR was registered. As part of the investigation, Biswas has been summoned for questioning three times.

Summons and Response

On Monday, there was speculation that Biswas might appear before investigators, but he did not show up until late in the day. The Calcutta High Court has granted interim protection to the former minister from coercive action. However, the court directed him to cooperate with the investigation. It also ordered that the police must serve a notice at least 48 hours in advance before seeking his appearance in connection with the case.
