Government to Establish Police Stations at Bhogapuram Airport and Vizianagaram
The Andhra Pradesh government is taking steps to enhance security and law enforcement in two key areas. Authorities plan to set up a new police station specifically for the Alluri Sitarama Raju international greenfield airport at Bhogapuram. This move aims to address the needs of air travelers and residents in the surrounding regions.
Focus on Bhogapuram Airport Security
The new police station at Bhogapuram airport will handle various critical functions. It will manage protocol arrangements, traffic control, and general law and order issues. The airport itself is nearing completion, with its inauguration scheduled for June this year.
Construction progress shows that nearly 98% of the airport work is finished. Only interior tasks in the terminal building and some other minor works remain pending. The facility has already seen successful test flights.
A commercial validation flight landed at the airport on January 4. Two additional flights touched down on January 13 and 14. These aircraft used the new airport's impressive 3.8-kilometer-long runway during their operations.
Addressing Vizianagaram's Police Needs
In a separate development, the government also plans to establish another police station in Vizianagaram town. Currently, the town operates with only two police stations – One Town and Two Town. Local residents have been demanding a third police station for some time.
The existing two stations face significant challenges in handling their workload efficiently. A severe staff shortage hampers their ability to address public issues promptly and effectively. This situation has created a pressing need for additional police infrastructure.
Plans for a Three Town police station in Vizianagaram have been under discussion for about ten years. The town's growing population makes this expansion increasingly necessary. Authorities now indicate that the third police station might become operational within the next month or two.
This new station will likely start functioning from a temporary building initially. The temporary setup will provide immediate relief while permanent arrangements get finalized.
Approvals and Implementation Timeline
Both police station proposals have reportedly received government approval. The Bhogapuram airport station is expected to come up at KL Puram, while the Vizianagaram station might be located at Kanamam.
Establishment of these stations will proceed quickly once authorities identify suitable land parcels. The government emphasizes that these facilities will become operational very soon. These developments represent significant improvements in law enforcement infrastructure for the region.
The combined efforts demonstrate the government's commitment to strengthening police presence and services. Both initiatives respond directly to local demands and practical requirements for better security management.
