Top Police Officials Conduct Surprise Inspections Across Amritsar
Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Deputy Inspector General (Border Range) Harmanbir Singh Gill carried out surprise inspections across Amritsar city and rural areas under their respective jurisdictions. The inspections aimed to strengthen security, enforce police discipline, and review law and order arrangements.
Bhullar Reviews Security at Key Locations
Commissioner Bhullar visited major religious sites, the bus stand, the railway station, sensitive locations, and multiple checkpoints across the city to assess law and order preparedness. He also inspected Police Control Room (PCR) vehicles, Quick Response Teams (QRTs), and patrolling units, evaluating their deployment, response time, and operational readiness.
During interactions with officers and personnel on duty, Bhullar directed them to remain alert, disciplined, and vigilant. He emphasized that police personnel equipped with modern weapons must stay prepared to handle any emergency and closely monitor suspicious activities. According to Bhullar, ensuring the safety of residents, pilgrims, and visitors remains the police's foremost priority.
Night Patrolling and Public Cooperation
Bhullar stated that night patrolling, naka checking, PCR patrols, QRT deployment, and special checking drives would continue to strengthen public security. He appealed to citizens to immediately report any suspicious activity to the police and cooperate in maintaining peace. Senior officers, including Deputy Commissioners of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioners of Police, and Assistant Commissioners of Police, accompanied Bhullar during the inspections and reviewed security arrangements in their respective jurisdictions.
DIG Gill Inspects Rural Police Stations
Meanwhile, DIG (Border Range) Harmanbir Singh Gill conducted surprise inspections of police stations and checkpoints in rural areas to assess policing standards, discipline, and law and order preparedness. During his visit to the Rajasansi police station, Gill examined personnel attendance, station records, weapon maintenance, security arrangements, and duty management.
Gill warned that negligence, indiscipline, absence from duty, or irresponsible conduct would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He directed all Station House Officers to ensure regular monitoring of police personnel and stressed that every officer must discharge duties honestly and with discipline. He also warned that consuming alcohol while on duty, unauthorized absence, or any form of negligence would invite strict disciplinary action.
Continued Surprise Inspections Planned
Gill said surprise inspections would continue without prior notice to ensure accountability and further improve policing standards across the border range. The coordinated efforts by senior officials underscore the commitment to enhancing public safety and police performance in Amritsar.
